To watch is to look out for danger or see that all is well. It is clear from ancient history that watchmen were employed to patrol the streets of the city and protect its inhabitants from danger. Their work was also to stand at the tower on the wall and at the gate of the city. The watchman was supposed to call out the hours of the night. Figuratively God’s prophets are also His watchmen (Heb 2:1). They are supposed to see what is coming in the spirit realm and warn or direct the people before what they see manifest in the physical. Jesus has also called His disciples to be watchful and prayerful. In other words every believer is called to be a watchman. You can see this in Mathew 26:38-41 (NIV)

“Then he said to them, my soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me. Going a little further, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, ‘my father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not my will but as you will. Daily monitor of April 13th page 5 carried an article entitled “cabinet wants gays’ bill dropped”. In this article, it is reported that a cabinet sub-committee chaired by the First Deputy Premier Eriya Kategaya suggested that “If Mr. Bahati did not mind a lot he could withdraw the bill”. If this is true then may the Almighty God save Uganda. How can Mr. Bahati not mind when homosexuality is against common sense, our culture, religious beliefs and a medical horror?  How can he not mind when he is speaking not for himself but the safety of our children and the value of our people? There is a saying that “Sin takes us into a pit and that only the cross of Jesus can bridge us back to life”. Whenever we talk about Easter the first thing that comes to mind is the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for our sake because of His love, in order to bridge the gap and redeem us back to God. Looking at the events that unfolded in the week before the Passover, e.g. the triumphant entry, and the cleansing of the temple. All these events are highlights of what we should do in our lives.

During this Easter season, you should emulate what Christ has done by bridging any gaps that might have been created between you and your spouse, children and loved ones. Jesus bridged the gap between man and God because of his love, and that is why He was able to give up His life for our sake. One of the people I hold with high regard in Uganda is Mrs. Allen Kagina, the Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority. I came across one of her speeches she delivered in 2008 during Uganda Christian University’s graduation. It blessed me and so will it bless you. Here it goes; The lasting legacy you can leave behind is to be relevant in a dynamic world. And, the secret to remaining relevant in this dynamic world is in living these key principles;

Praise the Lord! I want to thank the Lord for who He is. Last year I sat for my senior six at Lakeside College School and I was doing PEM/ENT. It wasn’t easy because in the process of examinations I lost my sister. I had to travel to the village for burial. I had no time to read as it was a tough moment for me. After the burial I came back and did my exams. I really thank God who enabled me to score 22points. All the glory returns to Him.

1. From the 7th-9th.04.2011 women of the National Fellowship of Born Again Pentecostal Churches of Nakawa district organized their first annual women conference at Nakawa Pentecostal Church. The conference theme was: ‘Yes the set time has come’. We thank God for the step the women in the Born

Again fellowship have taken towards empowerment.

2. On the 8th.04.2011 VCCM had its monthly special Youth overnight. During the overnight Pastor George Oduch encouraged the Youths to prepare for the Revival that is going to sweep across Africa. This he said in reference to the prophecy that John Osteen the father of Joel Osteen uttered years ago when he said that the last Revival is coming from the continent of Africa. Pastor George Oduch also prayed for the new VCCM youth Leadership and commissioned them to serve.

3. VCCM Married Ministry organized a one day’s workshop for marriage and parenting on the 9th.04.2011 VCCM at Rest Garden Bweyogerere with the theme: ‘Strengthening the Family and preserving the Future Generation’. The workshop was a blessing through the wonderful ministry of Pastor Ezra Tumuhirwe of Christian Healing Ministries, Mrs. Wesonga Winfred and finally Pr. George Oduch – VCCM Senior Pastor, who closed the workshop with a special prayer of blessing for the married and family at large.( See Page 12 for pictures)

4. VCCM had its quarterly Prison outreach on the on the 2nd.04 .2011 to Lugazi Prison. The outreach was led by the VCCM Resident Pastor – Robinson Okello with a team of four. This outreach was a success as 28 inmates out of the total inmates of 150 made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The team gave out soap, gospel tracts and New Testament Bibles to the inmates. We thank all who supported this Outreach.

2. Baptism by immersion took place on the 2nd .04.2011 we congratulate all who were baptized. The next baptism will take place on the 14th.05. 2011. If you are not yet baptized by immersion we encourage you to register at the church office with a fee of 3,000 shillings only and God will surely bless you.

3. On the 29th.04.2011 we shall have our monthly Healing, Miracles and Deliverance overnight. You are encouraged to invite the sick, oppressed and all those who need God’s intervention in their lives to this special night of God’s intervention.

4. Our monthly Youth overnight will be held on Friday 13th.05.2011, starting at 8:30pm till 5am. All the Youths are encouraged to attend this overnight and also invite your fellow youths from other Churches to attend and the Lord will surely bless you.

5. On Saturday 23rd .04.2011 Victory Church Of Christ Youth Ministry will carry out  an area Community Outreach. Be free to join this program.

6. The wedding meetings of Sister Cissy Apio and Mr. Oroyi John Bosco are on every Sunday from 11am at Ebenezer Canteen behind the Church. We encourage you to support this divine cause, the wedding is scheduled to take place on the 7th.05.2011 and God will surely bless you.
