The Word By Pr George Oduch
Commit the future to God
To commit is to hand over or entrust. When you go through the teaching of the bible, you will realize one thing; that it is best to commit the future into God’s hand. The dictionary defines the future as time or event coming after the present. One minute from now is already in the future.
The future is very much connected to events, i.e. prospects, expectations, opportunities. And these are things that can cause people to be anxious. When your job contract is ending, you can begin to wonder or worry about how you will manage. When your spouse begins to show signs of deceitfulness, you can begin to worry about the future of your marriage.
When your expectations are not met and the future looks uncertain what do you do? During the recent election in Uganda, as I watched the T.V, I saw people who had won jubilate and for those who had lost I could see disappointment written all over their faces and others looked worried. In others, I could detect bitterness in their words. Much of all these reactions are connected to their perception of the future. Whether your expectations in the present time are met or not, it is very important that you commit the future prospects into God’s hands. Let us look at three reasons why we need to commit the future into the hands of God:-

Your Best friends
A friend is one who is not a relation, whom you know well and who is kind or sympathetic to you A true friend will help you. A friend who is good will add value to your life. The influence of good friends is very vital in one’s life.
If you have never taken the issue of friendship seriously, then you have to. Because the people you keep around your life as friends will to a great extent determine where you will be. True friendship originates from God. He is the one we can learn friendship from. In John 15:15 Jesus told His servants that “Hence forth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you”.

Expressing Love
In the book of Luke 10:25-37 When one of the lawyers tested Jesus with a question about love, Jesus told a parable of the good Samaritan in answer to him. In that parable, He said that a Priest and a Levite passed the route where a man who was attacked by robbers laid helpless, but they all did nothing for the wounded man.
When the Samaritan came, he stopped and helped the man. Then Jesus asked them saying who was a neighbor to the wounded man and they said it is the Samaritan and He said “you have answered well, go and do the same”.

Leaders should own Responsibilities
This week at my work place, we have been discussing about leaders owning responsibilities.
And, Adam and Jonah were used as examples to illustrate how leaders usually abdicate their responsibilities and blame others.
Before I go into sharing with you my insights on the teaching let us draw examples from the world. When a school performs badly in national exams, it is the head teacher to blame and action is taken on him or her but the teachers are not touched. In football, no matter how strong a team is and has the best players in the world, if it produces poor performance, the coach is sacked players are not tampered with. If a different coach is recruited, impressive result is seen and yet it is the same players. This means that leaders are so important.

Uplifting Testimonies
Praise the Lord; I want to give all the glory to God who healed me. Ever since when I was young I have lived with a problem of bleeding on my umbilical cord. My umbilical cord was ever fresh like that of a new born baby.
I was working in Sudan at the Air Port but due to the problem I couldn’t be smart to the requirements of the Job because I couldn’t tack in all the time I could use bandages to avoid the blood from reaching my clothes so I lost the job in the process of coming to Uganda for the operation.
In the operation they wanted 7 million shillings for operating my bladder, uterus and the umbilical cord which were affected by the bleeding. I did not have the money for the operation but when I came to Victory Church of Christ I was prayed for and the bleeding umbilical cord dried up.
Today I am totally healed from what could have costed me my life because of the power that is in the name of Jesus Christ. All the Glory goes back to God.
