Over the past two decades, poverty, war and HIV/AIDS pandemic have been largely responsible for generating orphan hood in Uganda. According to statistics from UNAIDS there are over two million orphans in Uganda and with about 1,000,000 children orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS. It has been approximated that one out of every nine Ugandan children is an orphan.. This is a very alarming scenario. The traditional child care systems are over stretched and crumbled due to poverty and increasing number of orphans. Government resources too are not adequate enough to meet the growing demand of orphans and its unattended problems. HOW WE ARE TACKLING THE PROBLEM {mosimage}One of the cordial objectives of VCCM is to cater for those that have lost both parents and have no relatives to meet their physical, social economic and psychosocial and spiritual needs Currently VCCM is caring for 7 orphans at the Home care center while 12 others are being sponsored in schools but while staying with their relatives, foster parents, relatives and extended families.
OUR EXPANSIONS The VCCM plans to expand the existing home care center by building a new home for these children and also extend support to sponsor additional 150 orphans and vulnerable children in schools. VCCM further aims at establishing a school for these children right from Pre-primary, Primary upto Secondary levels. In addition, to have a clinic constructed which may eventually expand into a child hospital in the near future. Our Appeal to You {mosimage} We humbly appeal for your donations to make a difference in the lives of these desperate children and many more that are on the waiting list.
